Cold weather, including winds, rain, hail, flooding, and winter storms, can happen anytime. Stay safe and healthy by planning ahead.

Warming Centers may be opened by Santa Clara County during cold weather events. The Gilroy Library, located at 350 W 6th Street is typically opened as a warming center during regular business hours.

In addition, during severe cold weather events, overnight warming locations and expanded shelter services may be available. Please call 2-1-1 for information on expanded shelters and additional services in Santa Clara County.

Storm & Cold Weather Preparedness Resources

  • In the days leading up to a storm, sand and sandbags will be available outside the gate of the Gilroy Corporation Yard, located at 613 Old Gilroy Street. Residents are advised to bring their shovels and a friend to assist. Additional sandbag locations can be found at valleywater.org/sandbags.
