Eligible Santa Clara County residents can schedule at any available vaccine location in the County. Beginning February 28, 2021, healthcare providers in Santa Clara County will expand vaccination to workers in the following industries: education and childcare, food and agriculture, and emergency services. For more information on eligibility visit the California State vaccine website.

2/23/21 Update:
In partnership with the County, we have multiple vaccination events planned for the next few weeks in Gilroy, with a limited number of walk-in appointments available at a couple of locations. Walk-in appointments are first-come first-serve.
This week's vaccine events:
Wednesday, 2/24 at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna Street, 80 walk-in appointments available starting at 9 AM
Friday, 2/26 at the Gardner South County Health Center 7526 Monterey Road, 200 walk-in appointments available starting at 9 AM

Gilroy High School will open for vaccines starting on Wednesday, 2/24 by appointment. To make an appointment visit www.sccfreevax.org or call 2-1-1.
Vaccines are available to those who are age 65 years and older and frontline healthcare workers. Must show proof of age or work and proof of county residence.
The next tier, Tier 1B, including educators, childcare workers, agriculture/food workers, and emergency services, will be eligible for the vaccine starting February 28, 2021.

2/8/21 Update:
The City of Gilroy is working in coordination with the County Health Department to provide easier access to the COVID-19 vaccine for those who are eligible. While we are not where we’d like to be yet, we do have a couple of small vaccine events this week. We are continuing to look for ways to partner with the County to provide easier access to vaccines to protect the health and safety of our community.
This week the County and the Gilroy Fire Department will be providing vaccines to residents of Wheeler Manor.
On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, the County and the Gilroy Fire Department will be providing vaccines to Gilroy seniors age 65 and older. Everyone is welcome regardless of immigration status or health insurance coverage. Vaccines will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are eligible and have not had the opportunity to schedule a vaccine appointment yet, please be persistent and patient. We are committed to making sure everyone in our community, including those with mobility issues, who wants a vaccine has access to a vaccine. We anticipate that this process will take many, many months but we are committed to continually looking for ways to assist the County in its efforts to streamline and expedite the vaccination program.

1/13/21 Update:
Santa Clara County announced today that in addition to all healthcare personnel in Phase 1A being eligible for COVID-19 vaccination, some health systems in the County are now allowing Santa Clara County residents who are age 75 and older to receive their vaccine.

The federal and state government have established phases for when different populations are eligible to receive vaccine. Currently, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has instructed all counties in California to vaccinate persons in “Phase 1A” which includes healthcare personnel and residents of long-term care facilities (e.g., nursing homes). In addition, CDPH has now provided guidance that healthcare providers may begin offering vaccine doses to some Phase 1B Tier 1 populations if appropriate efforts have been made to reach higher priority groups and vaccine demand has slowed down in the currently eligible phases. CDPH is in the process of developing further direction for healthcare providers and counties related the groups included in Phase 1B and 1C.

Vaccine distribution is being organized and carried out by the State of California and the Santa Clara County Health Department which hold the authority and responsibility to manage this important component of the health and safety of our community. The County and State are using a "phase" and "tiered" system to guide the process, directing that the most vulnerable and health care workers closest to COVID be given the opportunity to get the currently limited doses of the vaccine first. As the first phase is completed, then the focus will switch to the next phase.
