[ARCHIVED] UPDATED: LOCAL HIGH FIRE RISK FROM JUNE 29 - JULY 5

Local High Fire Risk

THE CITY OF GILROY ISSUED A NOTICE of LOCAL HIGH FIRE RISK FROM JUNE 29 THROUGH JULY 5 DUE TO EXTREMELY DRY CONDITIONS AND THE USE OF ILLEGAL FIREWORKS, WHICH MAY INCREASE THE THREAT OF WILDFIRES.

Please use extreme caution and consider not using any potential ignition sources during this time.  Illegal fireworks are PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES IN ALL areas of the City.  Safe & Sane fireworks (sold within the City) are PROHIBITED in any high fire risk Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas (map of WUI areas is available at the link below).  Any fires that develop in the WUI areas will spread rapidly due to very dry fuel conditions.

Residents in high fire risk areas should prepare for wildfires by having a pre-evacuation plan and be ready to evacuate if a wildfire occurs in your area and emergency officials order you to leave.
