The City of Gilroy was recently awarded a silver medal by the Santa Clara Public Health Department for efforts to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke.
In February, the Gilroy City Council approved an amendment to the Gilroy City Code to prohibit smoking at multi-family housing properties and public events, except in designated areas. These were approved in an effort to promote and protect the health of the Gilroy community.
