With the 4th of July fast approaching, please remember that:

❗ ONLY from 9 AM on July 1st through 10 PM on July 4th
All other fireworks are always illegal.
Illegal firework use may lead to fines and imprisonment with administrative citations in the City of Gilroy starting at $1,000. Any subsequent violations will start at $2,000. Subsequent violations are calculated on an ongoing basis regardless of year.
Offenders may also be subject to criminal citations.
Citations may be issued to the person setting off the fireworks or the property owner or renter upon which property the fireworks are being set off.
Just last year, the City issued over 60 citations for illegal fireworks.
New this year, officers will also be able to cite persons using illegal fireworks or fireworks in an illegal manner on public streets.
Gilroy officers will be stepping up enforcement through the July 4th weekend, including using drone footage to identify offending properties.
