As we near the 4th of July weekend, emergency responders are reviewing safety protocols and preparing for a busy fireworks season.
Road access into Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas is one of the primary concerns of the Gilroy Fire Department.
In the past, the 4th of July, in particular, has resulted in some WUI resident roadways being obstructed by non-resident traffic.
In an effort to prevent a possible issue and to allow for the free movement of emergency responders, if needed, the City of Gilroy Fire Department will be temporarily closing Columbine Court, Tea Tree Way, and Mimosa Court for 24 hours on the 4th of July.
The public is urged to avoid all closure areas to allow emergency access as needed.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and for helping us to keep our community safe.
