[ARCHIVED] Safe and Sane Firework Safety

With the 4th of July fast approaching, please remember that ONLY SAFE and SANE FIREWORKS are allowed in Gilroy and ONLY from 9 AM on July 1st through 10 PM on July 4th. All other fireworks are always illegal.

 

Be sure to check the map of areas where safe and sane fireworks are allowed and where they are prohibited.

 

Please support local Gilroy youth sports and non-profit groups by buy buying Safe and Sane Fireworks at any of the 15 fundraising booths. Bring proof of Gilroy residency.

 

And help keep everyone safe when using Safe and Sane Fireworks with these firework safety tips:

 

๐ŸŽ‡ Never allow young children to handle fireworks

๐ŸŽ‡ Only light one firework at a time

๐ŸŽ‡  Fireworks should only be used by adults or with close adult supervision

๐ŸŽ‡  Never point or throw fireworks at another person

๐ŸŽ‡  Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands

๐ŸŽ‡  Use safer alternatives such as glow sticks, confetti poppers, colored streamers

๐ŸŽ‡ Use fireworks away from things that can burn                               

๐ŸŽ‡ Have a fire extinguisher ready and/or a pressurized water hose ready
