The City’s 2023 Citywide Pavement Rehabilitation Project is beginning, with improvement efforts already underway.
Over the next few weeks, crews will be working on curb ramp improvements and preparation activities for the upcoming pavement work. For a map of streets selected for improvement, visit www.gilroy.city/streets.
The 2023 Pavement Project is anticipated to improve 120 street segments and 58 curb ramps. $6.7 million in funding has been allocated towards the 2023 Pavement Project consisting of $900,000 Measure B funds, $1.3 million in SB-1 funds, $2.9 million in Gas Tax funds, and $1.6 million from the General Fund.
Streets are selected for improvement based on a Pavement Management Program (PMP), developed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Council-approved 5-year Pavement Maintenance Plan. This strategy balances the comprehensive need for pavement maintenance throughout the City against the need for repairing some of our failed major roadways to maximize the life of our roads and the benefit to the community.
