[ARCHIVED] LOCAL HIGH FIRE RISK NOTICE ISSUED FOR JULY 1 thru 4, 2023

Local High Fire Risk

THE CITY OF GILROY HAS ISSUED A NOTICE OF LOCAL HIGH FIRE RISK TODAY, JULY 1 THRU 4, DUE TO THE THREAT OF THE INCREASED USE OF ILLEGAL FIREWORKS, WHICH MAY INCREASE THE THREAT OF WILDFIRES.

Please use extreme caution and consider not using any potential ignition sources this 4th of July holiday season.  ILLEGAL FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES in all areas of the City. All fireworks, including Safe & Sane fireworks, are PROHIBITED in any high fire risk Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas.

Any fires that develop in the WUI areas will spread rapidly due to very dry fuel conditions. Residents in WUI areas should prepare for a possible wildfire by having a pre-evacuation plan and be ready to evacuate if a wildfire occurs in their area and emergency officials order them to leave.
