Project Overview

The City is actively maintaining and upgrading its traffic signal infrastructure to improve safety and traffic flow throughout Gilroy. This ongoing work includes the repair of existing traffic signals, replacement or upgrading of failed or outdated components, and installation of new signals at key intersections where warranted.

Gateway Senior Apartments HAWK
Installation of High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK)This project is currently in the design phase. The City expects to release the project for bid in the Fall of 2026, with construction anticipated to begin Fall 2026.

Monterey Rd and I.O.O.F AveInstallation of Traffic SignalThe project is currently at 60% design. Check back for updates as the project progresses. Construction dates are TBD. 
W Luchessa Ave and Church St Installation of Traffic SignalThis project is currently in the design phase. The City expects to release the project for bid in late 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in early 2027.
First St (SR152) and Kern Ave Installation of Traffic SignalThis project is currently in the design phase. The City expects to release the project for bid in late 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in early 2027.

Streetlights and Traffic Signals

The City contracts the day-to-day maintenance and operation of traffic signals, flashing beacons, streetlights, and related equipment to Cal-West Lighting and Signal Maintenance, Inc.
